al bundy Posted May 23, 2010 at 02:50 PM Report Posted May 23, 2010 at 02:50 PM Hi, My chinese girlfriend has an uncle with an electronics shop. Not very big, but legal. He wants to do some business abroad with me helping him. Like making contact with customers or help with importing products. Is this possible or am i as a foreiger only allowed to teach english or work at multinational companies? Thanks Quote
simonlaing Posted May 24, 2010 at 11:17 AM Report Posted May 24, 2010 at 11:17 AM If his company does export he can probably get a certification to hire foreigners. (I am not sure if that is its real name.) Another thing which is semi illegal but often done in the past would be to get the visa with company that your uncle knows that already has the certification. Then you work for your uncle. I would advise against the 6 month L work visa as it isn't really a work visa as a visit the factory to see if you want to buy stuff visa and if checked (unlikely though it is ) you could have more problems than the other company sponsoring your visa work around. Tell your uncle to check with the local police station to see how hard it would be to get the certification. have fun, Simon:) Quote
al bundy Posted May 26, 2010 at 08:26 PM Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 at 08:26 PM thanks, At the moment no export but he's looking to import foreign brand names so an import certification? what if the prices are to high and it's not possible can i still work there? Quote
simonlaing Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:03 AM Report Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:03 AM It is possible. You'll find that in China most things are negotiable. It may be a matter of your relative applying to Police station and saying that his company needs a foreign PR person, or an English teacher for his workers. Different Police stations and districts have different requirements. You'll find the smaller the city the more categories available to get a work visa. You uncle has to do the leg work though. Having an undergraduate degree will help you tremendously as well. Ask him to investigate it for you, it might be simple or somewhat complicated. I know it's possible for all kinds of companies to get this visa power so good luck. have fun, simon:) Quote
Erbse Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:32 AM Report Posted May 28, 2010 at 11:32 AM Alternative route: Start a company in your home country and get an invitation letter from your uncle for business matters. You can then get an F visa. Quote
al bundy Posted May 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 at 10:30 AM thanks simon, the company only has about 3 employees in total, all relatives. i can teach them english but there are not any(or much) foreigners or tourists in that part of central china. so i have to tell them it's because of future overseas business or something. i have an associate's degree thanks Quote
