RicoRico Posted May 31, 2010 at 01:06 AM Report Posted May 31, 2010 at 01:06 AM I just wanted to let people know about this awesome resource that's available. When I was in China, I would usually watch PhoenixTV (凤凰卫视) as they had a better quality of news and had less propaganda than CCTV. Watching the news in Chinese every day helped my listening comprehension so much and taught me common phrases and grammar in a natural way. For those of us who aren't living in China, PhoenixTV's website, v.ifeng.com/live/, lets you watch two of their channels live and free. Quite often they also have other channels listed under their two channels that you can also watch for free. These other channels are from various provinces in China. The best thing about this compared to other streaming tv such as pplive is that you aren't asked to download and/or install any software on your computer to watch it. One more thing, it seems like you need to use internet explorer to watch it. For me, the time difference with China works out perfectly. Since I'm on the East Coast of America, China is 12 hours ahead. Because of that, I can watch the morning news in the evening and the evening news in the morning. They basically play shows or news all the time though, they'll just be repeats. Enjoy! v.ifeng.com/live/ is the site if anyone missed it Quote

Neil_H Posted June 2, 2010 at 04:51 PM Report Posted June 2, 2010 at 04:51 PM You can also pickup Phoenix TV in the UK through your Sky dish. Channel 785. Quote
fritz Posted September 9, 2010 at 12:43 PM Report Posted September 9, 2010 at 12:43 PM Another tip related to Phoenix TV: I just found out that the website of 锵锵三人行 has the complete transcripts of every show over the past few years. Great way to decipher 窦文涛's 石家庄 accent and practice your listening skills. The videos themselves would have to be found on Youtube or 优酷/土豆. http://phtv.ifeng.com/program/qqsrx/list_0/0.shtml 1 Quote
skylee Posted September 9, 2010 at 01:23 PM Report Posted September 9, 2010 at 01:23 PM I used to watch 鏘鏘三人行, but has somehow stopped. Met Mr Xu Zidong at a function yesterday but it seems that he is not very well known in HK. Perhaps it means that the programme is not very popular in HK ... Sorry that this doesn't add value to this thread. Quote
Meng Lelan Posted December 24, 2013 at 03:53 PM Report Posted December 24, 2013 at 03:53 PM I like this talk show too and I know there are transcripts available online, but I wish they would Chinese-caption the shows so that the deaf like me can enjoy the dialogue in real time. Quote
