Xuesheng123 Posted June 13, 2010 at 08:31 PM Report Posted June 13, 2010 at 08:31 PM Found this for the name Tom http://http://z.about.com/d/chineseculture/1/0/G/u/3/tom.gif I see that the pinyin for this is: tang1 mu3 With the mu3 meaning governess, and having the radical for woman included in its character, is it still ok for a guy's name? Don't know if there are any more masculine names out there for Tom or not, but I'll leave that for all of you to help me with. ;) Quote
doraemon Posted June 16, 2010 at 06:25 AM Report Posted June 16, 2010 at 06:25 AM From what I've read in Chinese books, 汤姆 is practically the ONLY way I've seen Tom written. Don't worry, it won't sound or look feminine at all because it's the widely accepted way to write the name in Chinese by everybody. B) 1 Quote
renzhe Posted June 16, 2010 at 10:57 AM Report Posted June 16, 2010 at 10:57 AM If it's manly enough for Tom Cruise, it should be manly enough for anyone 1 Quote

skylee Posted June 16, 2010 at 04:12 PM Report Posted June 16, 2010 at 04:12 PM or you could try 唐慕 (tang2 mu4/adore china). 1 Quote
Shi Tong Posted June 17, 2010 at 11:36 AM Report Posted June 17, 2010 at 11:36 AM Or you could go the whole hog and get a full Chinese name- mine is 方(surname)熙同- with the 同 representing the Tom sound of my name. Quote
