Thinking About Moving To China And Have Questions :)

I am very seriously considering moving to China but as I am not familiar with any of the cities except Shanghai, Im having trouble deciding where I should move to.

The company I work for is interested in outsourcing some of our work so I would be tasked with starting a small (3-5 employees) company office. Specifically, this office will be for "remote managed services" (outsourced IT network monitoring and administration) with the possibility of expanding into level 1 helpdesk and network security. All the work is done remotely over the Internet so the business will never be visited by an actual customer. This means that the office location doesnt have to be glamorous, but it HAS to have reliable, high-speed Internet access.

The list I have come up with so far includes Dalian, Daqing, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha or Wuhan. I would really appreciate some feedback about the general suitability of these places, the cost of living and the quality of living there. Thanks in advance!

Dalian strikes me as the most obvious one - nice place to live, and already quite strong in IT / outsourcing.

All of the cities I listed are part of the "1000-100-10" project for IT outsourcing which (hopefully) makes them strong candidates for opening an office...

Any idea what cost of living is like in Dalian?

From a google search...

"depends on your life quality, 2000RMB/month you will get a very nice apartment close to center, 1500rmb/month you can go to general restaurant everyday. "

Wuhan is not the place for any human being to really live. It's big, it's boring, it's really really dirty. It's the heart of industry as far as I can tell and in my year there all I wanted to do is escape.

I think Hangzhou is overrated like 500% of what my personal experience was there. Don't believe the hype! B)

Changsha is the capital of Hunan making it the most over populated province on Earth.

Tianjin is too cold Shenzhen is too hot.

I think you would enjoy Dalian, it's hard to get a job there because basically everyone is willing to move there.

I would really like to move to Ninbao it's in the south and it's on the coast and the weather there is going to be good most of the year, I don't think you would regret a post there but for the record I've never been there. ;)

Thanks, thats just the kind of input I was looking for :)

After having spent some time reading I think the most likely cities are Guanzhou or Hangzhou.
