Why Learning To Write Chinese Is A Waste Of Time

It has nothing to do with intelligence, just different methods and the way your brain functions. ...I personally found that this kind of flash memory isn't really enhanced by learning to write and is what I use mostly to read.

Good point. I also think it has to do with different brain functions and I found the same about the flash memory as you astutely observed.

I am curious as to how you will pracise for the the HSK 5 writing section by the end of the year as this will will require writing two 80 words texts.

I myself write a lot by hand but I still suffer from not being able to recall instantlyeven for relatively easy characters and have to paraphrase stuff in those situations, but still that requires knowing how to write quite a few characters.

I don't think learning to write is a waste of time at all! I find that I remember the characters better if I write them out. Plus, you never know when you'll need to write something and not be near a computer or whatever.
