Hi

Can anybody help me translate some chinese writing?

My recently late grandfather studied in Hannover, Germany in the 1930's. Here he got acquainted with a chinese man whom wich he became know with. This chinese man wrote some kind of greeting in my grandfathers photo album and my grandfather forgot what it translated to and we never got to have it translated. If someone would care to help me I have uploaded a photo of the writing, it would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Kristian

Vertically from right to left -

1st line - 斯文身學友存 (To be kept by classmate/study mate/friend Si Wenshen (Swanson? - your grandfather's name?))

2nd line - 朱献熹贈 (From/Given by Zhu Xianxi (the Chinese's name))

3rd line - 中華民國廿七年 (27th year of the Republic of China, i.e. 1938)

Awesome, thanks a lot!

Yes my familys surname is Svendsen.

Literally translated? Will it mean like "For a lasting friendship" or something like that, not so literally translated?

Thanks again!

Kristian

I don't think so. But giving one's own pictures to someone else was enough indication of friendship, I think.
