newbie: 我想 ，我要 ， 我想要 ？

Hi,

If possible, could someone please help with examples/descriptions for

(or suggest a webpage about) the usage of 我想 ，我要 and 我想要 ?

1、

want+verb

both 我想 and 我要 have a meaning of "I want to do something". but 我想is more softer, like: i would like to do something, but 我要 is more like " i want to do something" or" i need to do something".

eg.

今天下午我想去看电影，你想去吗？（ just have the idea)

今天下午我要去看电影，不能去买衣服。( already planed, stronger)

2、

want + noun

“要”has a meaning of have something. when you want to say you want (to have/own) something, you can only use 我要something, 我想 doesn't have this meaning.

3、

我想要 can mean" want to do something" and "want something". but from my personal point of view, i think 我想要 is more ofter used to express "i want ( to have) something"

eg

我想要一瓶啤酒。
