Laptops in Beijing

Could someone let me know where the best place to buy cheap laptops is in Beijing. I am staying on the east side of the forbidden city so somewhere near there would be good.

zhongguancun is bigger and a bit cheaper, but compare prices when buying there and best have a look on the internet first so you know what you want/dont want.

get from a reputable shop. in zhongguancun its a bit cheaper but check for specs and other possible changed/second hand parts, ask for discounts, or if the price is regid ask for something extra, like more memory or a bigger harddisk. ask for details about warranty duration and terms. buying things in china could be a pain if you are new to the place. best thing take someone who knows about PC with you.

Have you considered just buying your computer on Chinese Amazon? They will deliver it to your apartment for only a small fee, and you will not have to haggle with any vendors.

I personally have bought all my computers at dell here via the internet. They are actually a little bit more expensive here than the US, but the service is great (while moving my laptop once fell down the stairs from the 6th to the 4th floor - they replaced the whole thing free of charge!) and you dont get dodgy stuff.

But then we just got a "custom assembled" computer for our school server (because apparently it needs more fans so it can run 24h a day). So far it works, but I bet the computer shop cheated us in some way.
