Scoobyqueen Posted July 9, 2010 at 04:41 PM Report Posted July 9, 2010 at 04:41 PM I am looking for a website that offers news in Arabic which includes text as well as the mp3 download. I have managed to inspire a colleauge to start practising her Arabic again using skype lessons. She did Arabic for her degree but following that she got frustrated when she went on courses there to improve her work vocabulary (Syria in this case) where the teachers only had one (inflexible) way of teaching. Doesnt that sound familiar? I found the Radio Australia daily news great for learning as they offer both the transcribed text and the mp3. I was wondering if anyone knows if something similar exists for Arabic. I think we have a few forum users learning Arabic hence my question here. Quote
atitarev Posted July 27, 2010 at 05:42 AM Report Posted July 27, 2010 at 05:42 AM It used to be Radio Free Iraq (Arabic). No download - you could record the audio. I'm not sure if you can still do it. <_< Check these resources too: Arabic Resources on Word Reference forum Quote
atitarev Posted January 17, 2012 at 05:05 AM Report Posted January 17, 2012 at 05:05 AM Update, although I haven't improved my Arabic much but still learning at times: http://arabic.euronews.net/ (Euronews in Arabic) is currently a good listening resource with audio/transcripts. The speed is rather fast. My previous link from nearly two years (Radio Free Iraq) no longer has audio, as far as I can see. Quote
roddy Posted January 17, 2012 at 11:57 AM Report Posted January 17, 2012 at 11:57 AM BBC World Service must have some Arabic stuff - not sure if there are exact transcripts, but if you read the news articles then listen to the radio program it won't be far off. Quote
atitarev Posted January 18, 2012 at 12:14 AM Report Posted January 18, 2012 at 12:14 AM Thanks, Roddy, I will check later if they match. I have checked http://arabic.euronews.net/ - what they say and what they write match. The speed is too high for me at the moment, so is the the complexity, so I use much simpler resources. http://www.mhprofess...ayer/main.html# (the main page: http://www.mhprofess...4-languages.php) IMHO, has the best audio for learners, specifically the transcripts for the book I'm using - "Easy Arabic Reader" (by Jane Wightwick and Mahmoud Gaafar) Quote
atitarev Posted January 18, 2012 at 12:59 PM Report Posted January 18, 2012 at 12:59 PM Checked. No, the audio is not matching the text on http://www.bbc.co.uk/arabic/ Quote
