Good thesaurus for language learning?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Does anyone know of a good thesaurus as an aid to studying the subtle differences

between synonyms and other closely related words/phrases, preferably one

available for purchase in the United States? Or perhaps one of the

online tools is sufficiently robust at this point that it could take the place of

a thesaurus? (It's amazing what's on the web nowadays!) I'm the kind of person

who wants a very clear explanation about the differences in meaning/grammatical

usage, example sentences and set phrases, etc.
