Duncan Leung Posted July 17, 2010 at 07:17 AM Report Share Posted July 17, 2010 at 07:17 AM Hi, I have a Nokia E71 that was bought in the US (unlocked), but the fonts don't include Asian fonts, so Chinese comes up as squares. I was wondering if anyone has experience with either doing a firmware change themselves, or if you know of shops that will do this? Thanks, -Duncan
ruich Posted July 27, 2010 at 08:44 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2010 at 08:44 PM I was thinking about the same issue. I have the E52 and really like it, except that Chinese fonts aren't included. But I will refrain from switching the firmware. 1. I will most likely not be able to write umlaute that I need in German. 2. It's risky, if something happens, then I don't have no mobile phone. And I've got the impression that it's not all that secure to switch the firmware, despite the tools that one finds on various sites. 3. You loose the guarantee for the phone. So once in China, I will rather buy a cheap Chinese mobile phone. That way I can use both SIM cards
