AlexanderH Posted July 25, 2010 at 09:48 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2010 at 09:48 PM A couple of questions here on usage: #1. Using 送你 vs. 接你. A sentence from a larger dialogue in my textbook: 我开车来接你。 I've seen an almost similar sentence except using 送你 (pick you up with my car). Do they both work the same, or is one more commonly used colloquially? #2. 钟头 vs 小时 In common speech, do you say I study/work in Starbucks every day for 3 hours using 钟头 or 小时? 我每天在星巴克工作三个钟头。 #3. 一些 Does this just mean "some" ? #4. 最 How exactly do you use 最? My book doesn't go into detail. How would you say the "most pretty" ? The "most expensive" ? Thank you
Jane_PA Posted July 25, 2010 at 10:16 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2010 at 10:16 PM #1. Using 送你 vs. 接你. 送你:means you are with me and I drive you to another place. 接你:means you are at another place and I go to pick you up (to my place). #2. 钟头 vs 小时 Almost no big difference. 小时 is more formal. 钟头 is more like spoken language although this rule is not strict. #3. 一些 Does this just mean "some" ? ---Yes. #4. 最 How exactly do you use 最? My book doesn't go into detail. How would you say the "most pretty" ? The "most expensive" ? most pretty 最漂亮 most expensive 最贵 oldest 最老 youngest最年轻
SiMaKe Posted July 25, 2010 at 10:45 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2010 at 10:45 PM #1. Using 送你 vs. 接你. They are opposites in a sense. In this context, 送 means to see someone off while 接 means to meet someone (as in pick them up at the station) #2. 钟头 vs 小时 钟头 is more colloquial. Either is ok in your example. #3. 一些 1.(used as a quantifier) a number of; certain; some; several; any; few; a few; a little 2.somewhat (of)So yes. And when it comes directly after the verb, ”一yi“ is normally omitted. #4. 最 最漂亮/最美丽的姑娘 the most beautiful young woman 最贵 most expensive 我最喜爱是通常是最贵的 My favorite (one) is usually the most expensive (one).
