James3 Posted May 12, 2014 at 10:12 PM Report Posted May 12, 2014 at 10:12 PM I stumbled upon this thread while looking for something else...so thought I'd mention the Gmail double-authentication option. After Google detected suspicious activity on my account a while back, I took their advice and enabled double-authentication. Now, when I want to sign into my Gmail, I have to do the usual password sign in, and then authenticate in a 2nd way. Used to be, I had my Gmail account configured where this 2nd way meant...I'd get a call from Google, giving me a code. I would simply supply this code to the form on my screen, which appeared after I tried to sign into my Gmail account. But then I learned they have an app for the iPhone (or iPad). So now, I just try to sign into my Gmail account via my browser, and then when it asks for a security code, I pull up the Google Authentication app on my iPhone, and it displays a new number. I type that into the field on my browser (where it's asking for a security code) and I'm off and running. Sure, it's a bit of a pain, but it's a lot more secure than just a password. FYI... 1 Quote
