YingTao Posted July 30, 2010 at 04:09 PM Report Share Posted July 30, 2010 at 04:09 PM Or make them up I guess. I remember once I saw a chinese name that I absolutely loved and kind of coveted for myself. Unfortunately I have completely forgotten it! I remember the rough translation of the name was "there are memories". I think it was something 忆 but I can't quite remember. I know this is really vague but it was such a unique name and I haven't found anything on it If someone can perhaps help me construct a name with a similar meaning I would be very thankful
New Members gloria_lee Posted July 31, 2010 at 07:49 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 31, 2010 at 07:49 PM hello i'm a native speaker, 忆=memory , so this character occupys the majority of your rough translation"there are memories" so do you mean that i should create a character to explain "there are"? can you recall more about that name, for exmaple, is it 2 or 3 charactors and if it is three, what did the other two charactors like(looks simple or complex) or somthing like that. chinese charactors are too much and many ones have the similar meaning, so i think it does need more infomation. skylee Posted August 1, 2010 at 01:40 PM Report Share Posted August 1, 2010 at 01:40 PM A direct translation - 有憶. Other options - 佳憶 - good memories. 滿憶 - full of memories.
New Members markfaescotland Posted August 1, 2010 at 03:19 PM New Members Report Share Posted August 1, 2010 at 03:19 PM the translation would be you3 hui2yi4. the word you with the 3rd tone means "there are" the word huiyi with the syllable hui with the 2nd tone and the syllable yi with the 4th tone mean "memories" the characters that you used are almost correct but if you look up the characters for these words it will be correct. note..the word you3 has many definitions so make sure you use the correct character. good luck zaijian
YingTao Posted August 17, 2010 at 04:01 AM Author Report Share Posted August 17, 2010 at 04:01 AM I do think it was 3 characters. you3 hui2yi4 sound kind of right but something feels a little off about it. I should try and track down the girl who had that name
