faluang Posted August 2, 2010 at 04:26 AM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 04:26 AM Hello. I'll be arriving in Shanghai and have to go directly (one way) to Kunming. I only find flights at 200$ or 1500 RMB. That's expensive. I once flew from Nanjing to Guangzhou for about 600 RMB but I really don't remember on which site I got the ticket from. How can I get a ticket for a good price On Line from Shanghai to Kunming? Thanks Quote
gougou Posted August 2, 2010 at 05:26 AM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 05:26 AM qunar.com It's a meta-search engine that will check several sites for the cheapest offers it can find for flights starting in China. It's only available in Chinese, but the input form should be fairly self-explanatory and you can put in city names in pinyin. Quote
roddy Posted August 2, 2010 at 05:38 AM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 05:38 AM If you're booking overseas though you need somewhere that can take payment from an international card, and the small places Qunar may send you to could have problems. Ctrip and Elong are the two largest. I've found Elong (now owned by Expedia (?)) to be much easier to use, but your mileage may vary. And edit: When are you booking for? Bear in mind that's a pretty popular tourist route, and it's summer. Quote
New Members EJME Posted August 2, 2010 at 10:48 AM New Members Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 10:48 AM Hi I am also flying from Shanghai to Kunming. I am flying around mid August. I have had a good look and the flights are pretty expensive. If you book a month in advance you can get them for a bit under 1,000rmb. Anyway, are you going to Kunming to study? If so, where are you planning on studying? I am going to check out Yunnan Uni, KCELC and SFL when I arrive. Quote
putonghua73 Posted August 2, 2010 at 12:27 PM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 12:27 PM I always use Travelzen because I've found prices competitive or thereabouts, and there is no surcharge for an using an international (overseas) credit card, nor none of the faxing one's credit card details malarkey. When I looked into changing my internal flights last year, I received a prompt courteous response informing me that it would not be a problem, and there would be no charge - just drop them an email to inform them of my plans. Cheers! Quote
Tommi Posted August 2, 2010 at 02:37 PM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 02:37 PM Also consider that because of the World Expo in Shanghai, the demand is way bigger than supply, so there has not been any usual discounts on any flights from or to Shanghai. Quote
faluang Posted August 2, 2010 at 03:35 PM Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 03:35 PM I would be arriving within 20 days from now. If I arrive in Hong Kong and then fly to Kunming the flight would be priced at about 1200 RMB which is also quite expensive. I wonder where have gone the cheap flights I used to find within China. I'm going to study in a private school. I'm considering TenWest Mandarin school in Kunming. I don't like universities because it isnt personal enough for me. I need private schooling. Quote
roddy Posted August 2, 2010 at 04:52 PM Report Posted August 2, 2010 at 04:52 PM Elong are listing flights on the 22nd, Shanghai to Kunming, 950Y (+90). Showing up as low availability though, I wouldn't hang around. 1 Quote
