South Ocean College in Wuxi

Hi,

I've been offered a job by South Ocean College in Wuxi and while it all sounds good I have noticed that when I receive an email from any staff member there they are never sent from the actual college. One staff member uses Google Mail, another uses Sina.com and one even uses Hotmail. Only one person there sent an email that originate dfrom the actual college rather than a free email service. Maybe I am just being needlessly paranoid but I would just like to hear what others think. I know that there are a lot of honest schools in China but also a large number of dodgy one. Any advice and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Heh, I used to work there way back when - 1998. Wasn't a college then though, it was the South Ocean International School. What was international about it? Why, me and the other three foreign teachers.

Wouldn't worry about the emails - Chinese IT departments are notoriously rubbish, it's entirely normal for staff even at major companies to use free email accounts.

Thanks for that. I thought there really was nothing to worry about but I just wanted to make sure. These days they actually prepare students to come and study at uni here in Australia as well as other English speaking countries. Maybe they are a bit more international these days.
