last month somewhere in china (probably qinghai/xinjiang) i got this note...i understand meaning a bit, but still have no idea what-the-hell-it-is? btw. it seems to be real, no fake note!!!!

If it's Faln Gong currency, I'm not even sure if it'll work in China. But it is the first one I've actually seen.

as i said - someone gave it to me as change...in shop/restaurant.

It's real money, they've just stamped / printed their message on it and put it into circulation.

Keep it as a souvenir. You were probably given it because they thought you wouldn't be able to tell to difference. Paying with such money is probably illegal, as it might count as disseminating FG materials.

That's a good point. It's most likely illegal so don't ever use it to pay for something.

Hardly. Yes it's probably illegal, but the chance of some random store clerk calling the police about someone using these notes is zero. I've seen people be asked to swop it for another one, that's all. Hand it over with a bunch of change and chances are it won't be noticed anyway. By all means chuck it away if you are worried though, it's only 1Y.

Or you might want to keep it as an odd souvenir.

btw. if i would try to use it and some chinese call police, its simple - i am 老外 so i can pretend i am idiot, lose face & they ll let me go... otherwise - by accident i almost used it on a bus! (best place to get rid off ugly/false 1Y money ^__~

Thought I'd add this one to the collection - obviously done on a budget, hand-printed on a five mao note. Not seen that before.

Also got one FG 1Y recently, but got rid of it as I didn't have any 零钱 for the bus...

BTW, as of today, Chinese Forums gets blocked for a few minutes after trying to visit this particular topic, must be the title (maybe they are really tightening the censorship these days, as gato pointed out in another topic)
