sandra_49202@yahoo.com Posted September 30, 2004 at 02:30 PM Report Posted September 30, 2004 at 02:30 PM I will be going to Germany to stay one week. Do any one know of any nice place chinese , entertainment that would be nice? Quote
steven Posted October 1, 2004 at 12:13 PM Report Posted October 1, 2004 at 12:13 PM Sure, Germany, has many nice places ! If you have one week, you should first of all see Munich (German: München), because it is tourist destination Nr. 1. I am not quite sure but at the moment there might even be the Oktoberfest still going on, which is THE attraction of the year. Don't miss an excursion to the nearby Alpes (German: Alpen) with its famous castle Neuschwanstein. Other places that I recommand to see are Berlin and Nuremberg. Not so thrilling is Hamburg and Frankfurt, as these are modern cities with less atmosphere. Quote
XiaoMa Posted October 1, 2004 at 12:20 PM Report Posted October 1, 2004 at 12:20 PM Yes. Oktoberfest is still going at the moment, but closes Okt. 3. Hurry The prices are extremly high, for germans, too. Don't expect chinese prices here. Hamburg is cheap, but not so nice whilst autumn/winter. The summer is the right time to visit germany, in my opinion. In Berlin: Visit Schloss Sanssouci, very very pretty (http://www.spsg.de/) Quote
skylee Posted October 1, 2004 at 04:28 PM Report Posted October 1, 2004 at 04:28 PM Berlin is wonderful. I could spend a week on the museums. Munich is also good. Quote
madizi Posted October 1, 2004 at 05:39 PM Report Posted October 1, 2004 at 05:39 PM I recommend Heidelberg. I was there in August and it is really nice town. And known for its old university. Quote
Catdiseased Posted October 2, 2004 at 11:03 AM Report Posted October 2, 2004 at 11:03 AM You should visit some of those small, old cities, like Rothenburg Ob der Taube (in Bayern). They will give you the chance to experience a bit of the medieval German atmosphere Quote
skylee Posted October 2, 2004 at 03:10 PM Report Posted October 2, 2004 at 03:10 PM I visited Rothenburg once. And there was a festival going on that day. All the towns people were dressed in traditional clothes and gathered on the streets and ate and drank etc. Then at night there was a firework display. I still don't know what that festival was. But it was wonderful. Quote
