translation from wooden pole

Surprised no one else has replied, seems simple enough.

From top to bottom: lao po da ren

lao means 'old', po also has a meaning of 'old woman', but together laopo means "wife"

da means 'big', ren means 'person', together, daren means "adult".

So not sure the context, but there it is.

大人 is also the old-fashioned way to address a court official, and can be translated as "your excellency".

No idea what it means in this context, though.

it is a pole that was used for kung fu training by Ip man, i got it from the film, and in film, that idiom (on the front of this pole) was not translated.
