Zichao Posted August 24, 2010 at 03:40 PM Report Posted August 24, 2010 at 03:40 PM Sorry, this is a pretty obscure question. A while back I found an old thread (I think it was in the Quick Translations forum, but it might have been in one of the others) about a translation of a passage in classical Chinese. The passage was basically about a woman inviting a guy to sleep with her, but it took everyone a while to work this out because she was expressing herself in such a hyper-polite way (something like "Would you mind if I spent some time with you?"). I've searched and searched and can't find it, but someone who participated in the original discussion - or who's extremely literate - might know what I'm thinking of. Sorry to be so vague. Quote

Zichao Posted August 27, 2010 at 01:00 PM Author Report Posted August 27, 2010 at 01:00 PM I think Skylee might have been the one who finally worked out what the thing was getting at. I'll have a look through 金瓶梅 and see if I can track it down. Quote
roddy Posted August 27, 2010 at 01:06 PM Report Posted August 27, 2010 at 01:06 PM Oh, it's one of the topics Skylee posted in? That narrows it right down Send her a PM, she might remember. Quote
