cm1 Posted August 28, 2010 at 07:25 AM Report Posted August 28, 2010 at 07:25 AM Does anyone know of anywhere in Beijing where you can buy English language newspapers eg. The Times, The Guardian? I much prefer reading a newspaper to a website. Even a day old paper doesn't really matter. Quote
gato Posted August 28, 2010 at 08:08 AM Report Posted August 28, 2010 at 08:08 AM Most international 5-star hotels (e.g. Shangri-La, Grand / Park Hyatt, JW Marriott, Westins) have counters/shops that sell foreign newspapers. Quote
HalaMadrid Posted August 28, 2010 at 01:47 PM Report Posted August 28, 2010 at 01:47 PM I would recommend buying a Kindle! Do they even have them in China? It isn't a newspaper, but still way better than the computer screen and you can read a lot of different papers. Good luck. Quote
jmhcali Posted August 28, 2010 at 10:42 PM Report Posted August 28, 2010 at 10:42 PM Amazon says he Kindle does not get service in China. I was going to buy one, but it seems they won't work. Quote
Xiwang Posted August 29, 2010 at 06:19 AM Report Posted August 29, 2010 at 06:19 AM You can't get automatic Kindle wireless 3G delivery of reading material in China. However, you can download anything you buy onto your Kindle, either manually or via WiFi. Not the same a reading a physical book or newspaper. However, it is a lot cheaper than buying the imported copies. Quote

jmhcali Posted August 29, 2010 at 06:30 PM Report Posted August 29, 2010 at 06:30 PM YOu can get a used one for $200 on Amazon; I'm sure they're cheaper on Ebay. Quote
deathtrap Posted August 29, 2010 at 08:05 PM Report Posted August 29, 2010 at 08:05 PM I'm pretty sure a new one for $139 is a slightly better deal than $200 for a used one Which you can find here Quote
Jane_PA Posted August 29, 2010 at 09:27 PM Report Posted August 29, 2010 at 09:27 PM I think most English newspapers have their website electronic versions, right? I know Wall Street Journal has online version, even cheaper than the paper version. Quote
