dajaphonics Posted September 7, 2010 at 02:03 AM Report Posted September 7, 2010 at 02:03 AM I just got back to Beijing a few days ago after spending the summer in the US. As I was looking for something familiar, and yes it isn't Chinese, but this Korean drinking place my classmates and I frequented last year. To my surprise it was gone. It used to be located on this small alley directly to the east of Wudaokou station and across from the U Center. I was a little upset because I was really looking forward to a golden pot of Makgeolli - sweet Korean alcohol. I'm sure many of you on this board also went to this place. Does anyone know if it relocated or if it was just demolished and lost forever? Quote
Archie. Posted September 7, 2010 at 03:13 AM Report Posted September 7, 2010 at 03:13 AM I am not so sure which bar you referred to. But do you have their Tel No.? If you don't have you can call 114, after telling the bar's name you will get their Tel. The last way is to ask their neighbors surrounding for more information. Quote
dajaphonics Posted September 7, 2010 at 05:31 AM Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 at 05:31 AM Old Korean Street I'm not sure about the phone number or the name of the place. All I know it was down this small alley and when you walked shortly up it there was another small alley to the right where there were three more restaurants. The one I'm referring to was on the right side and had three levels. It was very low key and I believe it was open all night. They had some really good Korean pancakes there as well. Quote
Brian US Posted September 7, 2010 at 04:09 PM Report Posted September 7, 2010 at 04:09 PM I did notice the street gone, but I think the last time I passed by they were taking more buildings down. What really blew my mind was going to the bars and coming back to find they put up all those white gates on the sidewalks one night. Quote
roddy Posted September 8, 2010 at 02:05 AM Report Posted September 8, 2010 at 02:05 AM Ask a friendly Korean, they're bound to know, or at least be able to recommend somewhere similar. Quote
dajaphonics Posted September 9, 2010 at 05:38 AM Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 at 05:38 AM I tried asking around today. No friendly Korean knew where a Makgeoli bar existed in Beijing. I was told I could get the pre-bottled variety but it's really no comparison to the kind that is made at a restaurant. Quote
