New Members Booger Posted September 23, 2010 at 12:12 AM New Members Report Posted September 23, 2010 at 12:12 AM I have been searching quite a bit and have yet to uncover a concrete response. I want to attend university in China for the purpose of learning Chinese-Mandarin. Must I take the HSK prior to enrollment? This seems counterintuitive as I know nothing of the language, but the schools I am interested in indicate the HSK is needed. Any guidance or experience would be most appreciated! Quote
fanglu Posted September 24, 2010 at 08:24 AM Report Posted September 24, 2010 at 08:24 AM There are some schools that do not have beginner classes and require you to take the HSK before you enrol. You should not go to those schools. To be honest I think you are probably misunderstanding the schools' requirements. There are very few that want an HSK before they teach you anything. Quote

Must I take the HSK prior to enrollment? No, at least not at a university where there are beginner classes. Take BLCU, for example. Quote
New Members Booger Posted September 25, 2010 at 05:41 AM Author New Members Report Posted September 25, 2010 at 05:41 AM Thanks for the information. I have been looking at XISU and XJTU in Xi'an. I viewed the respective websites and found conflicting information, sent emails (no responses) and have been trying find an answer for some time. Quote
