Hey,

I've just started an MA in Chinese Interpreting and Translation in the UK. It looks like a really good course, but extremely intense and much more weighted towards interpreting (public service, liaison, simultaneous, and consecutive) than translating (only 1 out of 5 modules).

Just wondering if anyone else has done a similar course and has any advice on how to get the most out of it/get your level up, or if there are any professional interpreters/translators who have any tips for such a course/how to prepare for professional interpreting-translation?

Linguistic ability is left up to ourselves to sort out, while lectures and practical sessions are on technique and methodology.

Cheers

Just bumping this before I leave it to die like a wounded badger on the edge of the M4.

Has nobody done a course like this/ are there no professional interpreters/tranlsators on't boards like??

I've tried to start T&I-related posts here in the past and got no luck since this board is primarily for language learners, not professional translators. Try proz.com. Good luck!

My wife just signed up today for a professional translator course here in Tokyo. She is Japanese so it is a Japanese-Chinese translator's class. She took a pre-course this summer and really liked it. She finds it really challenging and translation is definitely a skill that you will be working on for the rest of your life. I mean that in a good way...

Good luck on the course!

Cheers,

Kevin
