I got two tattoos a while ago and I thought they were acurate, but now people have been telling me they may not be. So I am looking for a definite answer from an informed source. Please look at the two tattoos below and tell me what they mean. Thanks.

Tattoo #1

Tattoo #2

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Tattoo #1 says: 凶 (xiong1)

This character, depending on the context, can have any of the following meanings:

vicious, fierce, ominous, inauspicious, famine

This may also be a variant of the character 兇 (xiong1), which can mean terrible or fearful.

Tattoo #2 says: 善 (shan4)

This character, again depending on the context, can have any of the following meanings:

good (virtuous), benevolent, well-disposed, good at sth, to improve or perfect

By themselves (as they appear to be in your tattoos), these characters sort of imply opposing feelings. Kind of like "good and evil". As far as I can tell, there are no words written, just the characters alone surrounded by some sort of Celtic looking pattern.
