How to say "This is common of American people"

I need a translation of the phrase "This is common of American people" or "American people usually do this" or something along those lines. I am having trouble coming up with the right set of words. Can anyone please help me out?

Try 典型. Means "typical". Used in a sentence:

这是美国人的典型做法

For a more literal translation of what you want to say:

美国人平时就这么做

American people usually do this.

In conversation, I'd probably say something like 一般的来说，美国人这样做。But it really depends on what "do" refers to; you can't use 做 for everything.

I was just making the point that most of the time, English do can't be automatically translated to 作 or 做; you'll need to use a more specific Chinese verb to describe just what Americans are usually doing. E.g., "Chinese never misuse 作 but Americans usually do."

I would use 習慣, it doesn't have the conotation of 做- 這是美國人的習慣 (this is what Americans are used to/ it's what their habits are). The reason that this doesn't have negative connotations for me is that BAD habits are 壞習慣.

I would say that even "美國人都會這樣" also has negative connotations behind it (Americans all do that/ Americans are all like that).

So I'd avoid it.
