roddy Posted October 8, 2010 at 10:52 AM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 10:52 AM Of course it's not normal behaviour. Sounds like he's got a crush on you. (I'm not being flippant, that's actually the most likely explanation.) Quote
Scoobyqueen Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:13 AM Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:13 AM not the case Quote
roddy Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:36 AM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:36 AM Oh yes, because us men hate the blondes I'm sticking with my analysis. The alternative is that he's inconsiderate and a bit dense, so . . . 1 Quote
Shelley Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:48 AM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 11:48 AM I have to agree with roddy. The cultural difference may be in the way he flirts. Gotta be worth thinking about. Quote
roddy Posted October 8, 2010 at 12:07 PM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 12:07 PM I am close to this business partner and have always made a point of explaining in detail what is going on in the organisation to help him do his job even better. We get on well in fact. Just sayin' . . .just sayin' . . . Quote

Brian US Posted October 8, 2010 at 01:16 PM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 01:16 PM My Canadian friend here in Beijing literally got 10 calls one morning from a Chinese guy asking her out. Even after telling him that she is married. Quote

Brian US Posted October 8, 2010 at 01:35 PM Report Posted October 8, 2010 at 01:35 PM Reminds me of a guy here in Germany who called me at 7 am saying he was literally around the corner and had brought breakfast. That is really rude. I think with social encounters there is little room between being cute and being creepy. It all depends on whether you welcome the gesture or not. I'd love to have a pretty girl come to my door with breakfast, yet replace her with the bank teller guy that always calls me after chatting in line that one day...and we have arrived to creepy. Quote

'Struth, brother. Scoobyqueen, that guy is probably both interested in you and socially inept. The second factor is why he's calling so darn often. Quote
renzhe Posted October 10, 2010 at 03:00 AM Report Posted October 10, 2010 at 03:00 AM Has he mentioned marriage yet? Quote
gerri Posted October 10, 2010 at 05:39 AM Report Posted October 10, 2010 at 05:39 AM I wonder where you got the impression that Chinese don't fancy Western women... from accounts I have from friends, it seems like they fancy them a lot, think they are easy and a good way to gain face, and hence good game.... I know, it's supposition based on a low sample, the same way Westerners might assume that it's perfectly normal for Chinese to have a mistress, but still. Quote
creamyhorror Posted October 10, 2010 at 08:15 AM Report Posted October 10, 2010 at 08:15 AM Scoobyqueen, I would love to hear about your romance with a Chinese guy (not this one necessarily). Please let us know how it goes! Quote
Lu Posted October 10, 2010 at 01:13 PM Report Posted October 10, 2010 at 01:13 PM My sample is also pretty small, but from what I heard of Taiwanese guys, they'd love to date western women but think they will be rejected out of hand, and are therefore shy to try. But even if Chinese men as a rule are not interested in western women (actually it seems to me that most men from every country prefer a woman from their own country, and vice versa), that wouldn't mean that no Chinese man is ever going to be interested in a western woman. anonymoose Posted October 10, 2010 at 01:18 PM Report Posted October 10, 2010 at 01:18 PM Especially a blonde one, after all 物以稀为贵. Quote
sirenbear Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:44 AM Report Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:44 AM I guess I didnt/dont expect Chinese men to fancy western women as a rule. I can assure you this is incorrect! It's true that many Chinese men are hesitant to approach Western women but it definitely doesn't mean they aren't interested. My experience on a CHinese dating site has taught me this ;) Also, Chinese men call and text incessantly when they are interested. I find it highly annoying, even if I like the guy. So it's quite possibly he likes you... Quote
anonymoose Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:55 AM Report Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:55 AM Well when Scooby gets to Beijing in first class on a Lufthansa A380, she'll be able to discuss their future together with the guy in person. 2 Quote
Kenny同志 Posted October 17, 2010 at 08:09 AM Report Posted October 17, 2010 at 08:09 AM Also, Chinese men call and text incessantly when they are interested. Somehow I find making incessant calls kind of silly, not really a good way to show considerateness. Quote
