For some jobs in the States it is very common to ask if the person has a reliable way to get to work. Yet, I don't think that counts as flirting.

One is also not supposed to ask about martial status during job interviews here. But I would think that would be an important question while dating.

You're cracking me up. And, though even more OT, why would Chinese spot a single small stroke that's missing from a hanzi at once, but never notice a typo like that (in spite of years of exposure...)?
