blairjs Posted October 14, 2004 at 02:09 AM Report Posted October 14, 2004 at 02:09 AM High, high from the summit of the peak, Whatever way I look, no limit in sight! No one knows I am sitting here alone. A solitary moon shines in the cold spring. Here in the spring--this is not the moon. The moon is where it always is--in the sky above. And though I sing this one little song, In the song there is no Zen. I have to write a paper on this poem. I was wondering how the language of the poem enhances, reinforces, or creates meaning to the poem. What imagery, mood, tone comes through the language? Is this a progression of ideas or narrativ? relationships between different stanzas. I think the comparison of "sitting alone" and "solitary moon" is an excellent reminder that humans and nature are one.8 Every living thing is connected to each other in some way. By separating ourselves from nature, we think that gives us the right to abuse it. Quote

wix Posted October 14, 2004 at 10:47 AM Report Posted October 14, 2004 at 10:47 AM It is worth considering the way the poem is rendered into English. The poem written in Chinese characters conveys the meaning in a different way. Quote
