Problem with MS Word Pinyin input

This is a problem I've recently had. I'm not sure what happened because things used to work, but now suddenly they stopped working. When I change the language bar to Chinese and I'm using a web browser (such as right now) I can input pinyin and choose the character I want. Everything works fine. When I'm using Word, however, it automatically selects a character for me as if it is on some sort of auto character mode. For example, if I type "z" it automatically types 在 and so on for each letter, thus giving me no choice for a character. I used to be able to type/input pinyin and choose characters in Word, but suddenly this automatic input system is in place. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Thanks!

This problem is difficult to tell without seeing your computer... And what is your Pinyin input system? Microsoft? Zhineng? Ziguang? Google?

You might try to check the property setting of your Pinyin system. I am using Google Pinyin and I can click the first icon of the Google Pinyin bar to see what settings that I can change. I also used Ziguang, which has a similar pinyin bar.

Do you get the 在 underdotted? In that case, you might be able to get the selection list by pushing the right or left arrow key.

I just had the same problem start. I am using the microsoft pinyin system and it used to work. The language bar is there and I can set it to PRC Chinese but when I type it is just english. Does anyone know what happened and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance...
