hunxueer Posted October 26, 2010 at 07:03 AM Report Posted October 26, 2010 at 07:03 AM Hey guys, Wondering what studying costs are in different cities across China. I want to know: 1. Price range for private tutors (per hour) 2. Price range for private training centers (per hour or class) 3. Price range for local university programs (per semester) I'll start, for Chengdu: 1. Free (as in language exchange) to RMB50 per hour for an experienced, certified tutor (I've also met one tutor who was asking RMB100/hour but I don't know if she had any students) 2. Usually around RMB50/hour 3. Between 6,000 and 10,000 per semester (not included books or visa) Quote
abcdefg Posted October 26, 2010 at 03:18 PM Report Posted October 26, 2010 at 03:18 PM For Kunming my 2010 experience has been: 1. For private tutoring the usual range is 30 to 50 RMB per hour for one-to-one instruction. 2. Private training centers vary widely depending on class size. For one-to-one instruction it's usually 50 to 75 RMB per hour. 3. Universities -- I don't know, though the information is available on line for the major ones such as Yunnan Daxue and Yunnan Shifan Daxue. Proviso: There is always someone out there in the on-line world who has gotten a "better deal" on any service or commodity you can think of, and will exclaim loudly that any posted rates are "way too high." But in budgeting, I feel it's safer to pick a number at or near the high end of the expected range and then perhaps be pleasantly surprised later. Quote
