michaelm Posted October 19, 2004 at 08:14 AM Report Posted October 19, 2004 at 08:14 AM Hi everyone, Does anyone host lots of info on different dialects of Chinese? I've found a lots of sites with general info, but, what I'm looking for specifically are sound files of speakers of different dialects speaking their native dialects. At the few sites I did find (eg www.ctlwmp.cityu.edu/hk/dialects) I had trouble accessing the files and have so far come up empty-handed. Thanks. Quote
ala Posted November 2, 2004 at 07:59 AM Report Posted November 2, 2004 at 07:59 AM A site all combined into one? Only one I know is the cityu.edu.hk site. For specifically Wu (Shanghai variant), you can try here: http://www.zanhe.com/lessons.html There are some dialogues and drills with audio files in Shanghainese. Still under construction though. Also, did you manage to find your way there? They seem to have some clips of various dialects: http://www.ctlwmp.cityu.edu.hk/dialects/sentences/test_dia1.htm Quote
Taibei Posted November 18, 2004 at 03:34 PM Report Posted November 18, 2004 at 03:34 PM I think the Chinese Pear Stories ("narratives across seven Chinese dialects") is probably just what you need: http://www.pearstories.org/ Quote
