Peng Posted November 3, 2010 at 03:33 PM Report Share Posted November 3, 2010 at 03:33 PM I wonder, do any of you have 微薄 (microblog or Chinese version of Twitter)? I am looking for right Weibo and it seems there are too many Chinese clones all over… I'd like to have one to practice Chinese. Do you have any recommendation? skylee Posted November 3, 2010 at 04:33 PM Report Share Posted November 3, 2010 at 04:33 PM should be 微博 instead.
feihong Posted November 3, 2010 at 06:39 PM Report Share Posted November 3, 2010 at 06:39 PM Try lang-8.com. Not strictly a Chinese-based website, but there are a lot of Chinese people on it. As a bonus, you can have total strangers correct your posts.
gato Posted November 27, 2010 at 06:56 AM Report Share Posted November 27, 2010 at 06:56 AM 新浪微博 is the most popular, I think. It has a nice iPhone app. http://t.sina.cn/dpool/ttt/v2star.php?cat=1&subcat=15&sorttype=industry&lcat=1&gsid=3_58a34a177c6e796a235bfba46759967396fa54
Outofin Posted January 25, 2011 at 07:36 PM Report Share Posted January 25, 2011 at 07:36 PM I don't remember what made me register sina weibo, but now it's become my most frequently visited site. It's highly addictive. Jump on, guys! I have a Twitter account too, but I don't know what to do with it. Sina pushes content to your face, and Chinese users forward messages much more often than Twitter users, so it's very easy to from one person to find related people and topics. Generally speaking, real cool guys don't do weibo, but there're a good number of people I am very interested in, 黄秋生, 马世芳, 方舟子, and many others. Celebrities use it as a marketing tool. It's indeed a very effective tool to connect with fans. Businessmen like 李开复 and 潘石屹 are a bit bland in personalities, but they have information. renzhe Posted January 21, 2012 at 06:44 PM Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 at 06:44 PM Sina Weibo? Cant find it with the search string xinxin天地 you gave above. Yes, Sina Weibo. It should work, we've just tried. Enter xinxin天地 into the search box at the top, then click on "找人" on the left side, she should be the only hit. You'll have to be logged in, though. found her, nice pics. Thanks, she appreciates every follower she gets.

roddy Posted March 15, 2012 at 10:35 PM Report Share Posted March 15, 2012 at 10:35 PM Any of our Chinese microblog users finding themselves unable to post? The BBC is reporting (in Chinese) that accounts not registered to a real name are being prevented from posting.
renzhe Posted March 15, 2012 at 11:04 PM Report Share Posted March 15, 2012 at 11:04 PM Still works. But the news is making the rounds, so it's possible that things will change soon.

lukejmo Posted April 4, 2012 at 08:10 AM Report Share Posted April 4, 2012 at 08:10 AM Tried signing up and it required my passport number. As per Roddy, from what I understand, all accounts must be tied to a real name. Tencent Weibo actually doesn't require this, but it's not nearly as popular.
