Bookstore with English Technical Textbooks?

Hi.

I am looking for a bookstore in Beijing that sells technical (engineering) textbooks. Unfortunately, since I cannot read Chinese very well, I need to find English textbooks.

Would the university bookstores carry textbooks in English, or are they mostly in Chinese only?

I don't know about Beijing specifically, but many university level textbooks are in English, so I suspect that you would be able to find some. Sometimes the cover is still in Chinese, so you need to check inside to see whether the book is in English or not.

What kind "engineering"?

You might want to search for the subject area on Dangdang. There are a few English language engineering textbooks listed (180 titles, it seems).

Engineering books

If you want to browse in a physical bookstore, try 中关村图书大厦, which is a huge bookstore on the south side of North 3rd Ring Road, across the road from Beida.

You will want ask for 英文影印版 textbooks, literally "photocopied English language textbooks", though the copies are authorized specifically for the mainland Chinese market.
