Yezze Posted November 9, 2010 at 03:31 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 03:31 AM x- 简直是穿越了时空的对话……中英简繁…… y- welcome to my world x- 进入你的世界我会灰飞烟灭的 y- 别胡扯 x- 别拿出一副大姐头的样子额……“比我小一岁”同学 灰飞烟灭(的) 什么意思? What does that mean in this case, i am not sure if i need to break it up into different characters, or keep it together 别拿出一副大姐头的样子额……“比我小一岁”同学 Is the speaker saying "Don't think that you know more than me" or something like that... then talks about how you is 1 year younger? Is the tone of this "conversation" joking or is x saying "you are younger than me and you think you know more than me, stop critizing me" in a serious fashion. Thanks! ---- Also, y meant to use "welcome to my world" as the english meaning, but x took it in the chinese meaning??. ("but one of them is always being used to describe someone you love.... so if he enters my world, someone will kill him??)
daofeishi Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:18 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:18 AM 灰飞烟灭 means, according to my dictionary, to vanish into thin air/to disappear like smoke. 别拿出一副大姐头的样子额 means something like "don't take that big-sis attitude with me“。 The 额 is a modal particle that comes off as a sort of standoffish 啊 That's all I can say. That conversation seems so random to me, I can't imagine what sort of context it fits into.
Yezze Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:21 AM Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:21 AM to vanish into thin air/to disappear like smoke. That's what i got, but now i am trying to turn this into a "more than" quick translation. So by entering someones world then disappearing, what basic meaning does that carry? Or is the kind of similar to the English meaning?
daofeishi Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:30 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:30 AM Dunno. I don't even know what it would mean in English without any more context to it.
Yezze Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:38 AM Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 04:38 AM To rephrase my question. In the case of 进入你的世界我会灰飞烟灭的, does 灰飞烟灭 mean something besides disappearing (as in, getting lost??) or i am going crazy.. There are 3 more lines of this converasions, they come before the ones in the starting post. z- 什麽測驗啦?SAT咩? y-恩 刚考完SAT x- 简直是穿越了时空的对话……中英简繁… This is turning out to be more than expected. Lol. skylee Posted November 9, 2010 at 05:06 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 05:06 AM It means that X will be reduced to ashes (X will not be able to survive in Y's world, probably because Y uses English, simplified Chinese and traditiononal Chinese at the same time, i.e too complicated/confusing). z: What test? SAT? y: Hm, just finished SAT. x; this is like a conversation via a time machine, English, traditiononal Chinese and simplified Chinese. y: welcome to my world. x: in your world I will be reduced to ashes. y: nonsense. x: don't act like you are a big sister, you are one year younger than I, my classmate. (y is not necessarily a real classmate of X)
Yezze Posted November 9, 2010 at 11:35 AM Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 at 11:35 AM Thanks Skylee. I didn't really consider the lines before "welcome to my world", but now that i add those, it makes a lot more sense.
