Me123 Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:13 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:13 AM Please accept my apology that the image is so poor. However can you see a block of four Chinese (?) characters and what might they translate as please. Part of a train sign. This is not an idle enquiry, it is quite important. Tyhank you if you can help me today. Cheers.
Daan Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:43 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:43 AM Chinese characters? Where? That looks more like a photograph of some faraway galaxy shot by the Hubble Space Telescope.
Me123 Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:55 AM Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 07:55 AM LOL I am actually painting one as we speak - you're not a psychic are you??? ! It is hard to see the characters unless you tilt your monitor or have an art level one. I have one full and one part translation but need a second full one to use. Very important matter but I appreciate if you cannot make it out and thank you for your reply.eone else can. Hopefully someone else can. Daan Posted November 10, 2010 at 08:23 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 08:23 AM Hmm. I think the character (if it is one) in the upper right-hand corner could be 主. But my monitor isn't quite good enough to allow me to make out any of the others. In fact, while it could be 主, it could also be a spaceship. ;)
Me123 Posted November 10, 2010 at 08:26 AM Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 08:26 AM Yes true those spaceship get around. Not wanting to lead you but if the viewers left translated as 'time' or similar what would you spaceship read as? I know I know - tricky but hey for a psychic should be a breeze. renzhe Posted November 10, 2010 at 09:13 AM Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 09:13 AM Sorry, but with this picture, anything anybody says is going to be a wild guess. It's impossible to read.
Me123 Posted November 10, 2010 at 11:27 PM Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 at 11:27 PM Thanks renzhe. I appreciate the difficulty especially if the viewer is looking with a 'normal' monitor - it's more obvious on an art monitor. However, I remain hopeful that someone here will take the time to make a stab. Cheers
roddy Posted November 11, 2010 at 11:21 AM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 11:21 AM Take a photo of your art monitor then . . .
jbradfor Posted November 11, 2010 at 02:28 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 02:28 PM What is an art monitor?
889 Posted November 11, 2010 at 02:49 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 02:49 PM It's an expensive monitor that reproduces colors with great accuracy and consistency. Often used by people preparing things for publication, where accurate and consistent color matching is important. Also a nice toy that gives you some bragging rights, like a pro-level digital camera. c_redman Posted November 11, 2010 at 05:47 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 05:47 PM Does an art monitor improve anything that a red filter in Photoshop wouldn't? Is the bottom left 畏 (wèi - fear, respect)? Two dots in the upper left is rather rare in a character. Could the two top ones be an erroneously split 谜 (mí - riddle, mystery)? So, where was this train anyway? Will telling us compromise your covert status?
Hofmann Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:04 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:04 PM And what makes you think all of us don't have art monitors? It's illegible.
Daan Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:42 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:42 PM You said you had one complete translation - care to share it with us? I honestly can't believe anyone would be able to read that, whether they have an "art monitor" or not.
Me123 Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:53 PM Author Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 at 06:53 PM Thank you all for your consideration and suggestions. And please forgive me if I unintentional gave offense regarding art monitors. I did not mean it. Unless one was in that field there would be no need to have one. Anyway, I will close this enquiry and thank you again.

Me123 Posted November 12, 2010 at 11:50 AM Author Report Share Posted November 12, 2010 at 11:50 AM Admin, you are mistaken. It was very legitimate. I did receive input from Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Beijing who know of me and understood I would not trouble anyone with idle chatter. I appreciate eveyones assistance and as I said the matter is now resolved and closed.

c_redman Posted November 12, 2010 at 06:29 PM Report Share Posted November 12, 2010 at 06:29 PM She posted this plus a few other pictures to another forum. Because the picture posted here was cropped, it doesn't reveal that because there is so much distortion, the "Chinese characters" are everywhere in the picture. It's like looking for meaning in TV static. ... who know of me and understood I would not trouble anyone with idle chatter. They don't know you at all, then
