A business acquaintance was curious what these headstones and monument ads read and what the company name on them was. Im not even sure they are Chinese characters... but any help would be appreciated! I tried duplicating the characters and finding them one at a time online and via Google translate... that didn't go over so well. Then I cam across this board :)

Thank you,

I will let you in on a little secret... ... the translation is right below it in English!

Well, pretty close, anyway! The characters are:

金 - jin -Gold

山 - shan -Hill

花人 -hua ren -Chinese (people)(the first character is the traditional form, I wrote the simplified form)

石碑 -shi bei -Stone tablet/monument

公司 -gong si -company

the other one, top to bottom:

嘜 - ma - mark

头 -tou - head

规格 - gui ge - specifications ..... 雕刻品 - diao ke pin - scuplture

数量 - shuliang - quantity ..... 无雕刻品 - wu diao ke pin - without scuplture

箱 - xiang - box/trunk

号 - hao - number

目的地 - mu di di - destination (location)

A "business acquaintance"? Hopefully he is not in the mob! ;)

No, what you wrote is wrong. The traditional form is 華. The simplified form is 华. What you wrote means flower.

FIRST PIC

金山华人石碑公司 (Golden Hill Monument Corp.)

translated: California/West Coast Chinese Stone Tablet Company

金山 "golden hill" is the old Chinese name for the West Coast and California in particular.

next line: The Bay Area's only Chinese-founded stone tablet workshop/factory.

The rest is just directions, addresses, and material names.

I hope your acquaintance is just an interested customer and not a competitor!

Thanks for the replies everyone! That's awesome. As far as I know she has no ties to any "families"... Why all the worry?

I did see the English, but thought there was much more going on there. Again, thank you all so much! I am a phone programmer and computer tech, so if there is anything I can help anyone with when it comes to technological problems, or communication needs, just PM me and I will pass on the favor.
