Matty Posted November 17, 2010 at 06:42 AM Report Posted November 17, 2010 at 06:42 AM I'm not sure if anyone has any information on this, I'm currently looking at locating in a very small town for about half a year. The 2 schools here aren't able to afford foreign teachers and I doubt could even grant a Z visa. I'm interested in possibly volunteering in return for perhaps just an F visa and a place to stay, money isn't such a problem for me, especially in such a small place. As far as I can figure, with an F visa I can work as long as I do not receive any money source from inside China. Any thoughts, experiences, ideas or advice? Quote
Madot Posted February 5, 2011 at 04:22 AM Report Posted February 5, 2011 at 04:22 AM Hey Matty. Yes, the F visa works. I taught language teaching methods for 4 months at Henan Institute of Education in 2009 in return for room and board. It was termed a cultural exchange and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Institute took care of renewing the F visa for me (since the original one I got from the Consulate in Sydney, using paperwork from the Institute, had a maximum limit of 3 months). The only thing I'm not sure about is whether the school where you're going to teach needs, nevertheless, to have been evaluated as suitable to hire foreign teachers, even if, in this case it would be a volunteer position. The Henan Institute had OTHER Z-visa visiting foreign teachers. Hope this helps. Mado Quote
