cm1 Posted November 21, 2010 at 04:32 AM Report Posted November 21, 2010 at 04:32 AM I need a new mobile and am considering getting an iPhone. Will I be able to transfer my current mobile number to it or will I need a new number? I'm currently with China Mobile. Quote
gato Posted November 21, 2010 at 05:23 AM Report Posted November 21, 2010 at 05:23 AM You can use iPhone with China Mobile and keep your current number, as long as you are ok with 2G data service (2G speed is good enough for email, but not for audio/video). If you want to use 3G, you would have to switch to China Unicome, whose 3G network is the only one compatible with iPhone in China. Note that iPhone 4 use a smaller size SIM card called micro SIM card. If you want to use iPhone 4 with China Mobile, you will need to go to a China Mobile store to get them to give you a micro-SIM card, or you could go to an iPhone dealer and they can probably cut your SIM card for you for a small fee. eeraser Posted November 21, 2010 at 10:23 PM Report Posted November 21, 2010 at 10:23 PM You can cut your sim card down to fit inside an iPhone. A simple Google search will turn up templates to help you cut down your big sim card into the smaller size that fits into the iPhone. The catch is that you wont be able to put the sim card back into your old phone. Quote
hackinger Posted November 21, 2010 at 10:28 PM Report Posted November 21, 2010 at 10:28 PM Hi, I cut my sim card to use it in an iPhone. A bit tedious, but it worked. With an inexpensive micro sim card adapter you can still use it in your old phone. Edit: I live in Europe not in China. Cheers hackinger Quote
