Hi,

A quick question for you guys.

A Chinese friend said to a teacher my Chinese name is "Lanni" (sounds similar to my western name). The teacher replied that all Chinese girls like the character 'ni' very much. I have no clue which character she meant, maybe you do?

Thanks!

I think she may have been talking about 妮, which means "young girl" or "maiden girl."

I wouldn't say "all" Chinese women would want this as a name; it will sound silly when you're fifty.

I would ask your Chinese friend which Characters he/she used. It's the only way to be sure.

I think it should be "妮". This character is never used alone. In some Chinese area, 妮子 (nīzi) means girl.
