Is ZDT abandoned?

A post in another thread ("Study Tool with Active Learning") by @daxia33 got me wondering about this.

There is one program that I have used before called ZDT, but sadly it's unstable and very limited in its functions, and no updates in years (probably abandoned).

The ZDT subforum wasn't informative, including a post in September asking basically the same thing. http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/28174-are-they-still-working-on-zdt/page__p__226994__hl__zdt__fromsearch__1#comment-226994. That query went unanswered.

Anybody know if ZDT is a dead duck or if its author is just taking a break? I sure do like it as a learning tool and would even be willing to buy a paid subscription to contribute to it's maintenance and improvement.

Signs that this project is alive:

- According to their code repository, the last change was made only 9 months ago (however, they didn't make a new release)

Signs that this project is dead:

- No new release since 2007

- No blog posts since 2008

- Last accepted bug was in 2007

My judgment is that this project is currently unsupported. Keep using it if it meets your needs, but if you have problems with it don't expect them to be fixed. There are alternatives out there (Anki, Mnemosyne) that are free and still actively developed.

EDIT: Oh, and there is a "Donate" button on the project page, but I don't think donating money will do much good. There have been donations as late as May 2010, but the original author has continued to remain incommunicado.

Thanks. I'll continue using it but won't keep all my eggs in that one basket.
