New Members beeton Posted December 11, 2010 at 10:20 AM New Members Report Share Posted December 11, 2010 at 10:20 AM Hi everyone I am posting this in the hope that someone will kindly help me and translate the inscription on a pair of vases that I have owned for some years. They are highly decorated and appear to be depicting a story of some sort but I don't know any more than that. I can post some more pics if anyone would like to see them, but the links below are to pictures of the main inscriptions at the top of the vases. Any other information about these vases that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance Beeton
jbradfor Posted December 14, 2010 at 10:49 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 at 10:49 PM Could you post an in focus close-up of the beginning? [The upper-left, I assume.] Maybe with that someone can recognize the poem/story.
ma3zi1 Posted December 14, 2010 at 11:29 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 at 11:29 PM The title of the inscription is: 清明上河圖 Check out this link for a further explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Along_the_River_During_the_Qingming_Festival
xiaocai Posted December 14, 2010 at 11:30 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2010 at 11:30 PM Exactly, I'd like to help but it really hurts my eyes to read. For the first one the title says 清明上河图, and the smaller print just goes on about the background and details of the painting. I'd assume the second picture was taken from another angle of the same vase, but it is neither in focus nor complete; can't get much out of it. Dang, someone beat me to it.
