Taiwanese hits from the 1980's

It's a fairly generic category, but I'm looking for the titles of some of the biggest hits from Taiwan in the 1980's. I know a fair bit of 邓丽君 so I'm looking to hear more from the singers such as those featured on 明天会更好. The two that stand out on that particular performance are 郑怡 and 齊豫. Thanks.

蘇芮 was very popular in Taiwan during the early 1980s. Her biggest hits were rock-influenced songs, such as 酒干倘賣無, 一樣的月光, and

. The songwriter of 龍的傳人 wrote 酒干倘賣無.

I also like her song 是否 (by 羅大佑). It has a sentimental and slightly melancholic, nostalgic flavor compared to the songs above. It was popular both in Taiwan and LA's Chinese communities.

One of the biggest hits from Taiwan during the 80s is 恰似你的溫柔. It started as a campus folk song at Taiwan universities whose popularity later spread to the mainstream. 蔡琴 is the original singer. 鄧麗君 popularized it.

The song's composer, the late 梁弘志, wrote the melody for the Song dynasty classic 但願人長久.

Liang wrote another hit for 蔡琴: 讀你, which also started as a campus folk song.

That's a great link. 1980s Mandopop can be divided into two songwriting eras ruled by two giants. 羅大佑 dominated the first half from 1980-1985, while the second half (1986-1990) saw the preeminence of 李宗盛. Both are 天才大王.

Also after 1987, there was more diversity in musical style as a reflection of the changing environment. In other words, no more syrupy, orthodox songs in the Teresa Teng mold.

Compare 陳淑樺's 夢醒時分 (written at the end of the decade) with the songs of the early 80s, and you will notice a big difference in musical style and lyrical expression.

These hits from the 1980s particularly stand out. All the singers below participated in the song 明天會更好; with the exception of 張艾嘉, 鄧麗君, 趙傳, and 童安格. There are many hits from the 1980s, but these songs have especially withstood the test of time. Many songs are only hits when released, only to sputter out, diminish, or be forgotten by the public.

Most of these songs were not written by 羅大佑 or 李宗盛, except #3, #7, 是否 in #8, #13, and #16. Many of them were resung by later singers. I only included songs that songwriters wrote for other singers because collaboration between singer and songwriter is the norm in Taiwan. Not everyone can be like 羅大佑 or 李宗盛, who often sung their own songs.
