Anyone been to Jinan?

Looking into an academic year at the University of Jinan as my second choice if I can't get a scholarship to SWUFE in Chengdu.

How does the city itself actually rate? Has anyone lived there? Would you recommend it?

I've been there. I haven't been to that many places, but just happen to have been to the places you are picking. There is nothing too special about the city, but it is pleasant and clean. There is a decent size park near downtown built around a river stream running through the city.

I've spent an Easter break there. Not a bad place. In fact I think I quite liked it. The Provincial Museum is good. Blogged here.

Thanks! Not generally being in the guide books, I couldn't get much of an impression. I'm glad it seems fine. I did think it was well located if I wanted to visit Beijing and Qingdao, but I didn't want to stick myself somewhere I'm desperate to get out of every weekend. Good stuff!
