muellhalde24 Posted December 24, 2010 at 12:05 PM Report Posted December 24, 2010 at 12:05 PM Hey folks, I am in Qingdao right now and went to a supermarket recently to buy some Qingdao beer. Unfortunately, they had more then one sort of original Qindao - a red, yellowish and green can (I bought all of them^^), but I don't know whats the difference. Does anyone know more on this?? Thx, muellhalde24 Quote
Mugi Posted December 27, 2010 at 08:20 AM Report Posted December 27, 2010 at 08:20 AM Firstly, I wouldn't characterize your situation as "unfortunate"! Quite the opposite, I would have thought. And secondly, in my experience the best way to find out the difference between different beers, is to do the old taste test! (Note: Repeated testing recommended for best results ) It seems like Tsingtao has seven varieties which it markets in China under the Tsingtao brand, and also has three other brands. Quote
The World of Chinese Posted January 18, 2011 at 04:11 AM Report Posted January 18, 2011 at 04:11 AM Be sure you pick up some of their dark beer, which is ONLY available in Qingdao! As for the other colors, I'm not sure what the difference is. There might not be one. A few years ago, I visited the Harbin beer factory with some coworkers. For over a year, we'd been arguing about what the difference between the gold-capped and regular capped Harbin beers were. Some people swore the gold ones were better, some swore the regular caps were better even though they cost less. But no one could put their hand on what the difference was. So finally, we meet with a representative from the company, and ask him what the difference is. He pauses for a moment, and then says matter-of-factly: "The ones with gold caps are more expensive." Who knows whether Qingdao has a similar policy! Quote
