Hi!

I was looking for a cheap place to learn chinese and I have just found this school in Xichang (it's a small city where they launch satellites).

This place look quite cheap, the weather seems to be wonderful (maybe even better than Kunming) and I guess there is not many foreigners, which improve the immersion experience.

Do you have any information or experience to share about this city ? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The official website (my chinese is too poor to get any valuable information from it) :

http://www.xcc.sc.cn/

Please tell me if your find an english section.

There is information in English here :

http://www.admissions.cn/xcc/en3.html

http://www.study-in-china.org/school/sichuan/xcc/index.asp

and many other websites like this.

Unfortunately, the contact information on these websites are always different (which means most of them are outdated?)

I sent emails to 5 different addresses, hoping that one will still be active.

You can try both calling the phone number below and emailing them. If you still have problem communicating with them, then it's probably best to try another city, like Kunming, or Yantai or Qingdao in Shandong province (two smaller cities in Mandarin-speaking area of the country, with pretty good weather).

In these situations it's worth seeing if the fax number works. You can get a PC to fax service easy enough, and if they don't answer the phone (or can't speak English) and their email doesn't work, it's worth a shot.

Thank you for your help, Gato and Roddy!

Is there anyone that has an experience about Xichang to share ?

Not the same actual city, but a poster by the name of Muyongshi spent time in Mianyang, which sounds like it might be a somewhat similar proposal - backwaters of Sichuan, high-techish industry. Might be worth looking up.
