chris. Posted October 13, 2003 at 03:11 AM Report Posted October 13, 2003 at 03:11 AM Hi, I am running windows 98 on this computer and i cant get IME working in MSN 6.0, it will work in ICQ though. I have to type my chinese in Internet Explorer and then cut and paste into MSN. My contacts that have chinese characters in their names come up as ????. It appears MSN can view chinese characters in a chat window but they can't be typed in a chat window or be viewed/typed outside of a chat window. I am aware that IME is only used for IE applications(on non office XP computers)...but ICQ is a chat client as well, so i am assuming that MSN should be able to run it. Help pleeease! Quote

roddy Posted October 14, 2003 at 03:31 AM Report Posted October 14, 2003 at 03:31 AM IME works fine for me, Win98, MSN 5.0. Doesn't work in Yahoo messenger, although characters display fine. Roddy Quote
geek_frappa Posted October 14, 2003 at 04:09 AM Report Posted October 14, 2003 at 04:09 AM yes, also works in MSMSGS 3.6 as well as MSN 5.0. MSN 6.0 acts like some kinda wierd server that depends on XP technologies. ... IMEs are playing catchup now... Quote

Quest Posted October 30, 2003 at 07:33 PM Report Posted October 30, 2003 at 07:33 PM www.njstar.com download the communicator, it should work fine on win98. the IMEs only work in Unicode applications, one of the worst unicode chat programs is AOL Instant Messenger. Quote
zozzen Posted July 24, 2007 at 12:56 PM Report Posted July 24, 2007 at 12:56 PM Quest, I'm trying MSN Web messenger in firefox and njstar, but the chinese characters become monster code. For msn or firefox (to read this website) njstar's unicode encoder seems not working. Quote
