ni hao!

can anyone offer some help with my chinese name?

i'm half chinese, and my grandfather gave me one when i was a baby. unfortunately, he died when i was 3 years old, and no one was able to get/remember my chinese name.

can anyone give me tips? can i just choose any 2 words and use it?

our last name is wang (my mom's last name, my aunties say it'd be better to use that to denote my bloodline).

i was thinking something related to art, or astrology (stars, etc.)

is Guang1 Xing1 okay? or Jiao2 Xing1?

sorry if i'm flooding you all with questions heehee

thanx guys, really appreciate it. :D

It would be useful if you tell us what you want to call yourself (the meaning of your new name). And also your real first name for reference. And also your gender.

oh sorry hehe ^_^

my name's [edit name], male.

Guang1 Xing1 and Jiao2 Xing1 both mean "bright star".

thanks!

Wang Guangxing 王光星 is not bad. Or you could try Wang Liangxing (王亮星), which also means bright star.

Sorry I am not sure which Jiao2 means bright. If it is jiao3, then it is 皎星, which is more elegant than the above two and it also means bright (and clear) star. I think both 皎星 (jiao3 xing1) and 星皎 (xing1 jiao3) are good.

Well his name is Michael Douglas...right....

so 王明星 fits him perfectly!!!

皎星 might get confused with 姣星!

All other names are good. but DON'T CHOOSE "星皎"...........The pronunciation may cause some misapprehend with other two chinese characters which are not good for name.....

yep! an aunt told me that too hehehe ^_^

i chose Wang LiangXing. i also had a rubber stamp made for it, since i'm still saving up for a real marble seal... need it coz i'm having chinese painting classes. :) rubber stamps are okay for seals right?
