Hi,

A question from a newbie. How should one translate "a (specific) Chinese person"? 中国某人 or 某中国人?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a (specific) Chinese person". The meaning of 某 is that the object in not specific. But anyway, I think the phrase you are looking for is 某个中国人.

I think when you use one character you can omit the measure word like 某車;but when it's more than one character then you have to use a measure word like某輛汽車 or in this case 某位中國人。
