Doubled and redoubled?

This sample sentence from nciku

产量成倍增长

is translated as "Output has doubled and redoubled."

Is this correct, or should it simply be "Output as doubled."?

I (er....my dictionary) would translate "倍增" (bèizēng) as just doubled.

This sentence should be understood as:

产量--成倍--增长 (The output -- increases/increased -- in multiples)

[noun/subject]--[adverb]--[verb]

nciku:

成倍 = in multiples

近几年,这里居民的收入--成倍--增长。

In recent years, the revenue of the citizens has increased remarkably.

Thanks, guoke. I think that helps.

A slightly more direct translation would be "has increased in multiples", i.e. the translation of "doubled and redoubled" is not to be taken as literal quadrupling of output, but rather a "many times" increase. Is this correct?
